Tennova Healthcare - LaFollette Medical Center is a Cornerstone of Campbell County

LaFollette, TN (April 18, 2023) - The skilled and compassionate hands of physicians, nurses and other team members of Tennova Healthcare - LaFollette Medical Center supports the health and well-being of patients who come to the hospital and its clinics for expert care. Beyond providing clinical care, LaFollette Medical Center is a cornerstone of our community and a major contributor to the economic health of Campbell County as a major employer and tax-payer and through resources it has applied to expand and enhance the medical services available close to home. The overall impact is significant and totaled more than $55.7 million in 2022.

Care was provided at more than 77,200 patient encounters, including more than 14,100 emergency department visits, more than 2,100 inpatient admissions and more than 1,000 surgeries. Over 60,000 patients received care across affiliated facilities including LaFollette Medical Center Clinic, LaFollette Medical Center Clinic - South, Tennova Primary Care, Clinton and Caryville, Tennova Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, the Wound Care Center in Clinton and the Irene & Howard Baker Cancer Treatment Center in Harrogate.

“Each day we provide care that might not exist in our area if we weren’t here,” said Ronald Cain, chief executive officer for Tennova Healthcare - LaFollette. “We are quite proud of the work that goes on inside the hospital and clinic walls and our team embraces our mission and roles in improving the well-being of their neighbors and communities.”

LaFollette Medical Center applies its resources to medical services, facilities and technologies that are important to patients. The addition of a 128-slice per rotation computed tomography (CT) scanner enhances diagnostic capabilities. And area women have more access to gynecologic care with the addition of Candace Hutson, FNP-BC, who is now seeing patients at Tennova LaFollette Medical Center Clinic-South.

LaFollette Medical Center also gives back to the broader Campbell County areas by providing over $15.9 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable. And the payment of $3.4 million in property, sales and GRT taxes helps support civic resources and services. The hospital also gives support to local community organizations such as the Campbell County Children’s Center and the South Campbell County Rotary Club.

The hospital’s payroll of more than $21.6 million ripples across the local economy as employees buy goods and services. Last year the hospital added enhanced benefits to help team members achieve their personal and professional goals, including assistance with student loan repayments, reimbursement of licensure and certification expenses, as well as tuition reimbursement.
